The Orange Elks have many irons in the fire. We could be supporting our community, helping our young people in the city of Orange, partnering with the Orange P D police dogs or supporting our military people and our veterans.
Each year the lodge participates in over fifty Veterans Programs and donate over ten thousand dollars in various Veteran projects. This month our Veterans Committee donated $1,000 to the Tackett Service Dogs Scholarships. The Patriotic Service Dog Foundation trains and provides a Service Dogs that will help our returning veterans to become more independent, self confident and help them adapt to life outside the military. Returning veterans from the war alone, struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). These conditions can lead to sleeplessness, depression, anger, anxiety and isolation. However, these conditions are treatable. Each day 22 veterans will take their own lives. This donation will hopefully help reduce the statistic of 22 to Zero!
