Since 2006, the Orange Elk have raised over $26,000 to helped the Orange Police Department purchase five dogs for the Departments K 9 program. When a dog retires the K 9 officer can keep the dog. However, the handler will assume all responsibilities for the medical bills of the dog. A couple of years ago, the lodge set up a fund to help with these expenses. Recently, Amy Carr, an Orange Elks member organized a fund raising dinner to do just that. The result of the over $700 to help our retired Orange P D Dogs. This is another example of how the Orange Elks have figured out a way to enjoy a good meal, have an adult beverage, make money for projects and have fun doing it and we are all VOLUNTEERS!
