The Orange Elks have a secret formula. It is Time, Treasure, Talent, and Teamwork! This week was no exception. Our Drug Awareness Program donated to a deserving young man and a pizza party. Then we made a generous donation to Skyview School and the Hero for Kids Foundation,
Our Drug Awareness Program (DAP) works with GRIP (Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership). GRIP is a program for kids between 8 and 12 years old that are pre-selected to participate in the program. Once in the program, the kids must make and set goals and show improvement to stay in the program.
Our DAP donated a $50 Vans Gift Card to Javier, a sixth-grade student at Taft Elementary, who was voted as being the Most Improved Orange GRIP student as determined by his GRIP caseworker Bryanna Enriquez and OC DA Investigator Jose Flores. Bryanna wrote about Javier, he showed so much growth both academically and behaviorally. He has all passing grades and is getting everything done. He listens, when something is needed, he gets it done. He was challenged about his missing assignments and his behavior at school and at home.

Next was the 6th grade Taft Elementary Pizza Party hosted by our Elk Drug Awareness Volunteers. 20 Pizzas, 6 cases of soda, Rice Krispy Treats and Mrs. Field Chocolate Chip Cookies for the students and staff. Orange Elks member and Orange Police Chief Dan Adams also came out to help serve pizza.

The next day we stopped by the Skyview School and the Hero for Kids Foundation. Our lodge members Jennifer Martinez & Kelley Martinez generously donated a $1,000 to match the lodges $1,000 to ensure all of the Middle School kids could attend Knotts Berry Farm. Skyview is a K8 school for homeless and displaced children.
The Time (our members gave), Treasure (the donations our lodge and our lodge members gave), Talent (serving the lunch), and Teamwork (working with GRIP) makes this formula work.
