The lodge held a Kentucky Derby Party for Orange City Fire Peer Support.
The afternoon included lunch, picking your favorite horse, a hat contest and raffle baskets. Kati Bye, committee chairmen, organized an outstanding event and introduced Astrid, the newest support dog.
A donation was made to the Fire Peer Support Dog Program. The donation will help with the expenses of the program.
Astrid and Ember, are support dogs that are used as a therapy dog to help the men and women that go out on traumatic calls deal with the stress of the job and may also be used on calls where residents could use a little puppy love.
Heidi Falcon, an Elks member, won one of the raffle baskets, Firefighter for the Day.
