For members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, few honors are more prestigious than being named an All-American Lodge. This national recognition is awarded annually by the Grand Lodge of the Elks to lodges that demonstrate exceptional achievement in membership growth, community service, youth activities, veteran support, charitable giving, leadership development, and overall lodge excellence.
Earning the All-American Lodge designation is not simply about checking boxes—it is a reflection of a lodge's commitment to living the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity every day.
Orange Elks Lodge #1475 is proud to have earned this distinction year after year, placing our lodge among the top-performing lodges in the nation. While the award recognizes measurable accomplishments, it truly reflects the dedication of hundreds of members who volunteer their time, talents, and resources to strengthen our community.
What Does It Take to Become an All-American Lodge?
To qualify for All-American Lodge recognition, a lodge must demonstrate success across numerous areas, including:
- Membership growth and retention
- Community service projects
- Youth programs and scholarships
- Veteran support initiatives
- Americanism and patriotism programs
- Leadership development
- Charitable giving
- Lodge operations and member engagement
Only a small percentage of lodges nationwide achieve the standards necessary to earn this recognition each year.
Why Orange Lodge Continues to Earn This Honor
Orange Lodge's success is built upon a culture of service and involvement. Our members believe that being an Elk means more than attending meetings—it means rolling up your sleeves and making a difference.
Throughout the year, Orange Elks members volunteer thousands of hours supporting programs that directly impact our community.
Serving Our Youth
Orange Elks support local youth through programs such as:
- The Dictionary Project, providing dictionaries to every third-grade student in the Orange Unified School District.
- The Reading Promise literacy initiative.
- Hoop Shoot Free Throw Championships.
- Scholarship programs.
- Americanism Essay Contests.
- Scout and youth leadership programs.
- The Orange Antlers Youth Leadership Program.
These initiatives help develop future leaders while encouraging citizenship, education, and community involvement.
Supporting Veterans
Veterans remain one of the Elks' highest priorities. Orange Elks support veterans through:
- Veterans Appreciation Events
- Veterans Stand Down programs
- Tustin Veterans Outpost meal service projects
- Fleet Week activities
- Wreaths Across America
- Veteran resource and outreach efforts
These programs honor the sacrifices of those who have served our nation while providing meaningful support to veterans and their families.
Helping Those in Need
One of our newest initiatives, the Marketplace at the Hub, provides a dignity-based shopping experience for individuals experiencing homelessness or hardship. Through our partnership with the OC Hub Resource Center, hundreds of community members receive access to hygiene products, clothing essentials, food, and personal care items each year.
Our members also support long-standing community programs including:
- Christmas Basket Program
- Senior Santa
- Down Syndrome Family Picnic
- National Night Out
- Orange International Street Fair
- Community outreach and resource events
Supporting First Responders
For decades, Orange Elks have maintained strong partnerships with the Orange Police Department and Orange Fire Department.
Our lodge has funded and supported multiple Police K-9 units and annually hosts Police and Fire Appreciation Night, recognizing the outstanding service and dedication of local first responders.
Promoting Patriotism and Citizenship
Orange Elks proudly sponsor programs that promote patriotism and civic responsibility, including:
- Flag Day Ceremonies
- Flags Over Orange
- 9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies
- Classroom Flag Programs
- Pocket Constitution Distribution
- Flag Retirement Ceremonies
These efforts help preserve the values and freedoms that define our nation.
More Than an Award
While we are honored to receive All-American Lodge recognition, the award itself is not the goal.
The true reward comes from seeing the impact of our efforts—students encouraged to succeed, veterans receiving support, families helped during difficult times, and communities strengthened through service.
The All-American Lodge Award simply confirms what Orange Elks members have known for more than a century: when people come together with a shared commitment to helping others, remarkable things can happen.
We are proud of what we have accomplished, grateful to our volunteers and supporters, and committed to continuing this tradition of service for generations to come.
