A Building with Nearly a Century of History
Standing proudly at 211 East Chapman Avenue, the Orange Elks Lodge building has been a landmark in the heart of Old Towne Orange for over 100 years. Constructed in 1925 for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.), the impressive structure was built at a cost of approximately $100,000 — a substantial investment for its time. The first floor was designed for commercial storefronts, while the upper floors served as meeting and social spaces for the fraternalorganization.
When the Great Depression brought financial hardship, the Odd Fellows were forced to relinquish ownership of the building. In 1935, Orange Elks Lodge #1475 seized the opportunity to purchase the property, establishing the home that has served generations of Elks ever since. Today, the ground floor continues to provide retail space while the second and third floors remain the heart of our Lodge, where fellowship, community service, and tradition continue to thrive.
Grand Entry
As you enter the Lodge from street level, you're welcomed by displays celebrating the rich history of Orange Elks Lodge #1475. Our well-stocked trophy cases showcase decades of accomplishments, awards, and memorabilia, offering visitors a glimpse into the proud traditions of our Lodge.
One of the entry's most meaningful displays is the 9/11 Flag of Honor, generously donated by Don and Lynn Westerfield. It serves as a lasting tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and resilience shown by Americans during one of our nation's most difficult days.
Oscar Stutheit Dining Room
Located on the second floor, our elegant dining room comfortably seats approximately 120 guests. It serves as the gathering place for our popular Friday Night Dinners, while also hosting wedding receptions, civic organizations, charitable events, Lodge celebrations, and private banquets throughout the year. The dining room was renovated in 2024 and features a classic styling and remodeled bathrooms.
The dining room is dedicated in honor of Oscar Stutheit, who served as Exalted Ruler during the 1947–1948 Lodge year. His service extended well beyond the local Lodge as Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler (PDDGER), Past Grand Inner Guard (PGIG), and Honorary Past State President (HPSP), leaving a lasting legacy of leadership within the Elks.
Col. Paul Moreau Club Room
The third floor combines our Lodge offices with one of the favorite gathering places for members—the Club Room. Here you'll find three pool tables, darts, big-screen televisions, a meeting room, and of course, our welcoming bar, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy fellowship.
The Club Room honors Lt. Col. Paul Moreau, USMC (Ret.), who served as President of the Orange Elks Building Association for nearly two decades. His dedication and stewardship helped preserve and maintain the historic building that members continue to enjoy today.
Conference Room
Our Conference Room provides a comfortable meeting space while complementing the historic character of the building. It hosts committee meetings, planning sessions, and a variety of Lodge activities throughout the year.
Third Floor Entry
The Third Floor Entry welcomes members and guests into the heart of the Lodge. This area also pays tribute to the men and women who have served our nation in uniform.

The display honors members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, and those who remain Prisoners of War or Missing in Action (POW/MIA), reflecting the Elks' longstanding commitment to supporting America's veterans.
The Lodge Room
Often regarded as one of the finest Lodge Rooms in California—and certainly among the most impressive in Elkdom—our ceremonial hall is truly breathtaking. Featuring soaring ceilings, elegant draperies, classic architectural details, and theater-style seating for approximately 200 people, it has been the setting for Lodge meetings, initiations, memorial services, and special ceremonies for generations.
For nearly a century, this room has remained the symbolic heart of Orange Elks Lodge #1475, where members gather to uphold the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity.
