We are about to propose having live music after dinner on all Friday nights for at least 30 weeks in order to give it a fair chance.

Your input and support will be needed.

Other lodges make it happen all around us.

Let's get behind it! :good

While I LOVE the idea, I do have some practical questions that will need to be addressed:

* Will the band/music be the same every week?
* Where will the money come from to pay the band/musicians?
* If someone wanted to come to listen to the music, but no partake in the dinner (silly, I know!), would they be charged a 'cover' charge?
* How late in the evening will there be music? (We have a commitment with the wedding service to be off the second floor by a certain time (10:00 p.m. I believe) to allow them to get set-up for their Saturday functions)
* Would this impact attendance at our monthly functions?

Just a couple of thoughts...

Thanks!

Here's a quote from Tommy Van regarding this idea posted in the Open Topic Forum:

Music on Friday nights will give our members a reason to come to dinner and to hang out after the eat to dance, listen or mingle with others. Our lodge must be like a TV station. If we don't provide good programs no one will turn us on. We will gain in number of dinners sold, more bar income and hope that the membership see the efforts to provide entertainment is for them. Happy faces all around. Let's get behind Phil Moore and get this done.

In answer to some questions, In order to defrey the cost of music, we would have to increase the dinner prices  $2-$3 dollars. We would still be well below the cost of other lodges that provide entertainment. We should see improved numbers in dinners sold and bar income. I can't see any cover charge being taken for a person just enjoying the music. I think a time frame of 7-11pm will be the hours of entertainment. The impact on monthly functions should not be a problem. All functions follow a dinner the night before. I don't think it would matter. If the room is under contract with the wedding service,we would have the music on the third floor. It will all work out. thanks for asking questions :bowdown  :good  :good  :good

Thanks Tommy for the quick answers!

I think that having live music would be a cool thing to try out!

i support the idea and the concept of a trial period.

how will the band be selected.  how many time will the play?

30 events will be a lot of $$$. what if there is a $$$ shortfall.  how will the deficit be handled.

is there a target start date?  summer may be slow so perhaps this fall would be better...
