A Thousand of Smiles, A Tons of Thanks You’s and an Endless Supply of Hugs was the reward the Orange Elks received form the DSAOC (Down Syndrome Association of Orange County) families at the end of the picnic.
Mike Cash, the Committee Chairman, had a plan for the picnic. Let’s feed them, play games and make sure the families have a great time! We can safely say that five hours later, Mission Accomplished! 85 Elks and family members volunteered and over 350 DSAOC Family’s attended. Two families, one from San Francisco and the other from Phoenix who were visiting park joined in.
The Orange Elks held a family picnic for the DSAOC (Down Syndrome Association of Orange County) at Irvine Park. The BBQ lunch included hot dogs, hamburgers and fried chicken along with all the fixins. The events included games, the O C Zoo, train rides, crafts, bean bag toss, a fishing game, lawn bowling, pony rides a graffiti wall, water balloons, lawn bowling therapy dogs, prizes and surprises.
This event was an example of the Orange Elks giving their time, talent and team work to put smiles on all those attending. At the end of the day that “Extra Nice Feeling” included some very tired Elks, but what a great way to become tired!
