The Orange Elks, Mary's Kitchen and the Monday volunteer cooking had an idea. Let’s have a Sock Hop. Mary’s Kitchen is an all volunteer organization that provides food and services to the homeless in Orange, CA.  In the last couple of years, Mary’s Kitchen has seen over a 400 % increase in meals served and is a non-profit 501©(3) organization..  All monetary donations go directly into the services provided to the local homeless and those in need in the city of Orange.
The Monday volunteer crew are all members of the Orange Elks Lodge and thought it would be a good idea for the lodge to have Fundraiser for Mary’s Kitchen and decided on a “Sock Hop”. The dinner of pulled pork or beef dip sandwiches, baked beans, Cole slaw and desert of a Twinkie topped with strawberry’s and wipe cream was prepared for 126 guests and served by the Mary’s Kitchen volunteer, a package of white socks was requested and the music from the 50’s were played all night. By the end of the evening 427 pairs of socks and close to $2,000 was raised.
