The Orange Elks Lodge have two members who step up as chairmen to help the Orange Police Department. Mike Duff is the chairman of the police dog fund and since 2006 has raised over $26,000 to help purchase five police dogs. Amy Carr is the chairman of the Police Dog Veterinarian Committee. When a police dog retires, the officer has the opportunity to keep his partner but will assume all the financial responsibility for the dog including the veterinary bills of the dog. The members of the Orange Elks started and provide a fund to help cover these veterinary bills. Amy held a Mexican Dinner Night at the lodge with the proceeds benefiting the Orange Police Departments retired police dogs. The event raised over $1,400.

This week Bosco was diagnosed with a severe medical condition and was euthanized. During his five years of service with the Orange P D, Bosco participated in more than 500 searches, was credited with 60 Arrest Assists,  helped end many  dramatic pursuit and assisted in recovering large amounts of illegal narcotics and currency
On February 4th, Bosco was released on a driver who unleashed a barrage of punches, but a determined Bosco refused to let go and helped bring a five-hour standoff to an end.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bosco’s partner Officer Damon Allen.

K9 Bosco, EOW April 4 2018.

RIP!
