Will Hare, Orange Elks member, Committee Chairman and an Eagle Scout presided over the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Paul Andrew Scherz. Paul is the thirteenth  Eagle Scout from our  Lodges Boy Scout Troop 1475 since 2006.
The Eagle Scout Court of Honor is the highest honor the Boy Scouts of America offers. Paul received many congratulation letters from people all over the United States, a U S flag flown over the capital and a certificate from the Orange Lodge and the Grand Lodge.
Paul’s positions in the troop included Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Scribe and Order of the Arrow. His accomplishments were: Order of the Arrow, Paul Bunyan Woodsman Award, the Totem Chip and thirty seven Merit Badges. His favorite campouts were at Mammoth where he enjoyed his friends. For his community service, he worked at Caterina’s Club, First Harvest Food Bank and several other service projects including the Orange International Street Fair.. For his Eagle Scout Project he built a cart for transporting donations made to Caterina’s Club. Paul will be a sophomore at Villa Park High School. He is a pitcher and centerfielder on the baseball.
In his acceptance, he mentioned that he attained this award through the guidance, support and assistance of those present. He earned his Eagle Scout Award in three and a half years and credits his mom Claudia for the success. His dad, Peter, was his cub scout leader, Rock Brienza, Asst. Scoutmaster, for being a mentor and Monty Miller, Scoutmaster, for teaching him leadership skills
Paul is an impressive young man at the age of fourteen.
